England pick be the Black Forest as World Cup base

Sven-Goran Eriksson and the England team will be base themselves at the plush Schlosshotel Buhlerhohe in the Black Forest during the World Cup in Germany next year.

The venuue is close to the spa town of Baden-Baden and has 90 rooms. I'm thinking about popping along when in Germany and I'll put some photo's up.

Venues for Germany World Cup 2006

I'm not one for super long posts detailing everything that you need to know about a topic if somebody has already done it and no surprises here there are about 200 resources on the web about the venues to be used in Germany next year.

My preferred choice is the BBC venue guide. It's packed with information on the stadium - which is what you want to know.

If you're looking for something a little more detailed you should always pop along to the FIFA pages, as always they carry loads of information you'll never need or remember and you might get lost in the site but you can always close the window and try somewhere else.

Pele thinks England and Jose thinks Portugal

Let's dismiss the Portugal link straight away as Jose Mourinho isn't going to say anyone else especailly as he's probably going to accept the job as Portugal manager after Chelsea fail to or win the Champions League this season.

Let's not dismiss Pele telling us England could win the Wolrd Cup in Germany however, but let's take it with a pinch of salt. It was pele after all that told us an African team would win the tournament by 2002!

We are taking pretty much the same side that we took in 2002 and they should have figured out that each game is a cup final and we've actually gfot to go out and try to score goals. I'm all for Engladn winning in 2006 and I belive we will. Well said Pele.

World Cup tickets

Loads of people have asked me about tickets over the past few weeks and with the lottery starting on Monday I thought it a good time to explain how to get them.

First things first, the only official ticket agent is FIFA. Go visit the FIFA web site for full details of how tickets are sold and allocated and what to do and what not to do.

If anyone is claiming to be an official agent of FIFA go check the above link to see if they are.

No smart ball for World Cup 2006

The smart ball that was to be used in Germany next year isn't going to make the grade so all plans have been cancelled.

Instead the ball will be used in South Africa during the 2010 World Cup. Four days until the draw for 2006.
